The Mayor of Haslemere’s Christmas and New Year message to all those in and around the town. Cllr Olly Leach not only celebrates the town’s strengths but all the many people who have come together to support each other this year.

Dear Residents,

As we approach the Christmas period, I want to take a moment to reflect on the year that has passed and to highlight just some of the achievements that have been made this year:

  • I am proud that Haslemere Town Council have awarded more than £61,000 in grants to local organisations.
  • To date the mayor’s fundraising has raised more than £3,000 for local charities; The Link Project and KSS Ambulance.
  • We are working towards improving our youth provisions within the community.
  • Attending council events such as Remembrance Sunday, D-Day Commemoration and most recently the Christmas Carols at the Museum.

I have been honoured to have been invited to several events in the area that showcase what an incredible community we live in, among these are; The Haslemere Sports Awards, The Hunter Centre, The Haslemere Museum, Rotary Club, Community Fridge, Haslewey, Haslemere Beer festival, RBL Beacon Hill Beer Festival, Chamber of Commerce, Haslemere Food Bank, Love Haslemere Hate Waste, The Haslemere Society, Haslemere Musical Society and Haslemere Twinning. A huge thank you to these organisations for all that you do!

Christmas is a time to come together, to celebrate the values of love, kindness, and generosity. It’s a time to reach out to those in need, to lend a hand to a neighbour, and to share in the joy of the season. Our community has always been known for its warmth and support, and this Christmas is no different.

Let us also remember those who may be experiencing difficult times. It is through compassion and caring that we make our community a better place for all. As we celebrate with our families and friends, let’s keep in mind the power of small acts of kindness that can make a big difference.

On behalf of Haslemere Town Council I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May this festive season bring you peace, happiness, and good health. I look forward to 2025 and working together to make our community even stronger.

Warmest regards,

Cllr Leach

Mayor of Haslemere
