Clanfield’s first team beat United Services Portsmouth by 16 runs on Saturday.
Matt Bradley’s 98 runs from 116 balls set the tone for an entertaining match, with Richard Weltch’s 54 not out ultimately in vein for United Services Portsmouth.
Clanfield won the toss and elected to bat first. Matt Bradley and Alex Andrews put on 61 for the first wicket, but Clanfield then slipped to 115 for four. Bradley and James MacGregor (42 not out) added 82 for the fifth wicket as Clanfield finished on 203 for five.
Clanfield started well in the field with opening bowlers Kuthubudeen Abdul Malikoo and Rob Page taking a wicket apiece. Sam Mather (39) and Weltch got the home side’s innings back on track, but a wicket each for spinning duo Ollie Sedgwick and Sean Swift restricted United Service’s run rate. Malikoo (three for 34) delivered a sensational display of death bowling, taking two more wickets to seal Clanfield’s win.
Clanfield’s second team crashed to an eight-wicket defeat against Denmead. Clanfield were bowled out for 77, and Denmead knocked the runs off in 23 overs.
Clanfield’s women’s team beat Liphook & Ripsley by 13 runs on Sunday. The hosts batted first and scored 295 for four for a net score of 475. Clanfield scored 318 for six in reply for a net score of 488.
Clanfield’s Sunday team fell to a seven-wicket defeat against Stansted Park. Ollie Sedgwick (45 not out) and Matt Bradley (54 not out) impressed with the bat as the hosts scored 164 for five off their 40 overs. Stansted scored the winning runs in the 38th over.
Petersfield’s first team beat Hursley Park’s second team by four wickets on Saturday.
Henry Shore (five for 35), Oscar Walker (two for 32) and Chris Russell (two for 33) were the Petersfield wicket takers as the visitors scored 173 for nine.
Petersfield openers Shore (36) and Ash Spencer (30) got the run chase off to a flyer, before James Walton (50 not out) saw Petersfield home.
Petersfield’s second team fell to a 43-run defeat against Kerala, but Petersfield’s third team beat Compton & Chandlers Ford by 80 runs.
