A new shop has opened in Haslemere, and it’s not just the vintage clothes that have a story to tell.

Partners in life and business, Jack Grover and Lauren Perigo, co-own Simply Vintage Clothing.

In 2014, while still at school, Jack started selling sportswear to his friends, then moved to Instagram and Depop. Realising there was a market for second-hand wares, he dropped out of college and opened a pop-up shop in Guildford in 2017.

“I’m really lucky my parents were supportive and let me take a chance,” said Jack. “If I hadn’t dropped out, I don’t think I could have done it.”

Fast forward, and Jack and Lauren have a shop in Farnham, a warehouse, and a new store in Haslemere.

Lauren said: “Opening in Haslemere has been amazing; the reaction has been overwhelming.”

They source clothes for Simply Vintage Clothing from cities across Europe, including Barcelona, Paris, and Naples, finding unique pieces from local markets, second-hand shops, and antique stores.

“Every piece we buy is hand-picked and has a story,” added Lauren. “Our aim is to create spaces that people enjoy coming to, even if it’s not to buy.”

Jack explains: “Everything is priced based on its worth. We have 1920s dresses with a hundred years of history, which will be more expensive, but we also sell Levi jeans for £30 and have kids’ stuff priced at £5. I would love people to come with an open mind and try vintage. It’s good for the environment, and every piece has its own story."
