Folk fans have been offered a festive treat – and an early toast to the New Year – by an awesome foursome.

The Melrose Quartet are bound to strike a chord as they’re heading a Christmas Special at Grayshott Folk Club this Friday evening (December 13).

The night has been billed as a “proper old-fashioned Christmas do” with top folk musicians Nancy Kerr, James Fagan, Jess Arrowsmith and Richard Arrowsmith bringing their own very special seasonal show.

Their A Bright New Year show will be based on their full-length album The Rudolph Variations which features a range of joyous seasonal songs from traditional carols to contemporary wassails.

The performers have plenty of silverware to back up their credentials with multiple BBC Radio 2 Folk awards including two Best Duo and Best Album titles.

And that’s before we mention the 2014 Best Group accolade and Nancy being named Folk Singer of the Year at the 2015 showpiece.

Expect a fun evening of music and song, dressing up, games with prizes, lots of choruses to join in with, and an award for the most memorable Christmas jumper.

The fun begins at 7.30pm while tickets are £20 on the door or from Des O’Byrne on 01428 607096.
