The founder of a Ramsdean canine charity celebrated the service of the armed forces, veteran and cadet communities in Plymouth.
Allen Parton attended Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 29 on behalf of Hounds for Heroes (HH) as he does every year with his best friend ET.
He said: “There is not a single day that I don’t miss my life in the Royal Navy so events like this not only give me an opportunity to visit my old homeport of Plymouth. But to also once again work alongside the service family who Hounds for Heroes is here to support.
“This is going to be ET’s third Armed Forces Day and he will be in his absolute element as usual, many more hearts and minds to win, with his otter-like tail at full swing.”
HH aims to support those who have served or are currently serving in HM armed forces or ‘blue-light’ services by partnering them with assistance dogs. The dogs are specially trained to help their owner to improve their daily life.
The day provides an opportunity to commemorate the men and women who serve as part of the Armed Forces community. Including currently serving personnel, service families, veterans and cadets.
This year it took place after a busy but rewarding time of remembrance, gratitude and commemoration following the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
A ceremonial flag was raised at the start of the week and a highlight was the Rehabilitation Triathlon in aid of The Royal Marines Charity.
