Haslemere artist Maddie Chambers has been named the Young Business Person of the Year at the SME Surrey Business Awards.

Maddie, who is the founder artist at sustainable stationery, homewares and accessories brand Also the Bison, is now through to the SME National Awards.

Maddie said: “My illustrations are inspired by the natural world. These are then collaged into an explosion of colour and print. When I started in 2016 I knew I wanted to reject fast-paced, unsustainable and unethical practices. I work with other small businesses in the UK and Sweden to print my designs, who care just as much about the environment and their employees as I do.

“It’s incredible for my hard work to be recognised in such a way, and I’m so thankful to the support from customers, followers, friends and family for all believing in me, and my artwork and products. I’m looking forward to the national awards.”
