A man was assaulted while walking his daughter to school in Petersfield on Monday.
Police say the incident happened between 8am and 8.15am outside Tesco Express on Station Road.
A man in his 40s was walking his daughter to school when an unknown man approached him from behind and hit him on the back of his head.
“The man then continued to assault the victim before leaving the area,” said a spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary.
The victim suffered cuts and bruises to his face.
The police spokesman continued: “Officers are carrying out enquiries and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.
“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see the incident? Perhaps you were driving and have dash cam footage?”
