Petersfield Town produced an excellent performance to win 6-1 at home to Shoreham in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division.

Bob Tudway’s hat-trick and goals from Kian Towse, Asad Ssemwogerere and Charlie Merritt sealed a comprehensive win for the Rams.

The first of the afternoon came from Towse 14 minutes in. The second phase of a corner saw the winger drive at Shoreham and hit a low shot across goal that kissed the post on its way in.

Tudway grabbed his first after 21 minutes to double Petersfield’s advantage.

Sloppy defending let Tudway beat the offside trap and after the initial effort was saved by Shoreham keeper Elliot Dailly, Towse had the next effort before Tudway tucked away the loose ball.

Tudway bagged his second after 28 minutes from a corner. Dailly slipped on the soggy ground and Tudway's close-range header trickled in.

Brandon Miller impressed for the Rams and had two close-range headers which went over the bar.

The visitors pulled a goal back on 40 minutes when Aidan Eckworth-Jones blocked a clearance from Rams keeper Kieran Connell and tapped the ball into an empty net.

Petersfield restored their three-goal advantage in the 59th minute when Towse picked out Ssemwogerere, who smashed the ball into the corner.

The Rams scored their fifth on 85 minutes when Liam Kimber won the ball and played a pass into the box to Merritt, who finished with his second touch.

Tudway completed his hat-trick a minute later when he chased down a ball over the top and his finish went in off the post.

Petersfield co-manager Connor Hoare was happy with his side’s display.

“We could have scored ten,” said Hoare.

“I’m happy for Bob as he’s had to be patient with Harrison Cable playing well.

“If you want to achieve anything you need a good squad, and Bob has shown that.”
