Farnham Town continued their perfect start to their Isthmian League South Central Division campaign with a 2-0 win at home to previously-unbeaten Westfield.
Goals from Adam Liddle and Harry Cooksley were enough to give Town the three points at The Memorial Ground.
Farnham were quick out of the blocks and nearly took the lead in the third minute when Cooksley’s corner picked out Owen Dean, who headed just over the bar.
The visitors had an excellent chance on eight minutes when Sekou Toure won the ball off Jordan Stepney and was through one-on-one with Farnham keeper Pat Nash, but Nash closed the angle and made an excellent save.
Town went close on 12 minutes when Dean was through one-on-one with Westfield keeper Hugo Sobte, but Sobte stood tall to block Dean’s effort and his follow-up.
The resulting corner was cleared to Ryan Kinnane on the edge of the box, who hit a left-foot volley just over the bar.
Mark Waters was next to go close for Farnham in the 21st minute, but his shot was well blocked.
Town continued to push and Sam De St Croix’s effort on 28 minutes went just wide of the far corner.
Great Evans was through on goal in the 30th minute, but his effort was well blocked by Sobte. The rebound fell to Jack Dean on the edge of the box, who fired his effort over the bar.
Farnham broke the deadlock on 33 minutes. Owen Dean drove forward and slipped a perfectly-weighted through ball to Liddle, who shifted the ball inside and picked out the bottom right-hand corner.
Town nearly doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute when Jack Dean’s effort went just over the bar.
Farnham continued to push after the break and went close on 57 minutes when De St Croix’s effort was well parried away by Sobte.
Town went close again on 66 minutes when Liddle’s acrobatic effort hit the post.
Farnham did double their advantage four minutes later when Cooksley’s free kick took a deflection and found the back of the net.
Next up for Farnham is a home game against Ashford Town (Middlesex) in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday, September 21 (3pm kick-off).
