Badshot Lea returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at home to Uxbridge in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
Kareem Akinnibi’s double was enough to give the Baggies the three points in front of a crowd of 91 at Westfield Lane.
The visitors created the first chance of the evening on six minutes when Elijah Anthony curled his left-foot shot just wide of the left-hand post.
The Baggies nearly took the lead on 24 minutes after a flowing move. Josh Keeya’s ball over the top found Anuar Ceesay. Ceesay cut the ball back to Akinnibi, but Uxbridge keeper George Legg made a superb save to deny Akinnibi from close range.
The home side did break the deadlock three minutes later when Akinnibi beat two defenders and fired his shot past Legg at his near post.
The visitors nearly equalised in the 36th minute when Troy Walters’ shot was superbly kept out by Baggies keeper Harry Cawdron with his feet.
The home side started the second half brightly and nearly doubled their advantage on 53 minutes when Ceesay and Cam Rohart-Brown linked up well and a cross picked out Akinnibi, but his header was saved by Legg.
The Baggies doubled their advantage on 71 minutes when Ceesay’s cross found Akinnibi, who controlled the ball before smashing his shot past Legg and into the left-hand corner.
Next up for the Baggies is a trip to Isthmian League South Central Division champions Chertsey Town on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
