Alton slipped to a 2-0 defeat at home to Jersey Bulls in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.
Late goals from Seaney McColgan and Toby Ritzema were enough to give the visitors the three points at Anstey Park Enclosure.
The Brewers created the first chance of the evening in the fifth minute when Matt Benham’s header was superbly tipped over the bar by Jersey keeper Euan van der Vliet.
The visitors created their first chance on 29 minutes when Jack Boyle’s shot from the edge of the box was tipped behind for a corner by Alton keeper Adam Melville.
Boyle went close again four minutes later, but he dragged his shot wide of the far post.
Adam Poynter tried his luck for the hosts from outside the box in the 43rd minute, but his shot went over the bar.
The Brewers were quick out of the traps at the start of the second half and Poynter’s 47th-minute shot was well saved by Van der Vliet.
Darnell McDonald was next to try his luck for Alton on 57 minutes, but his left-foot shot went wide of the far post.
The game looked to be heading for a draw, but McColgan came off the bench in the 74th minute and scored the opening goal six minutes later when he headed home from close range.
Ritzema made it 2-0 in stoppage time when he fired home from close range.
Next up for Alton is a home game against AFC Whyteleafe on Saturday, October 12 (3pm kick-off).
