Rowledge crashed to a ten-wicket defeat at home to Calmore Sports in Division One of the Southern Premier Cricket League on Saturday.
Rowledge started promisingly having been put into bat. Despite losing Jontie Sebborn early on to the nagging line and length of Josh Metcalfe, and then Ollie Baker leg before wicket to the experienced James Hibberd, the rest of the Rowledge top order all got starts.
Max Martin carried on his good form accumulating 42, and his partnership with Justin Felsch (34) brought some momentum into the innings as the four-pronged Calmore spin attack got to work.
Felsch departed at 70 for three, bringing Ollie Ryman to the wicket. Ryman was patient at first, but then produced an array of positive shots around the ground for his 45 off 47 deliveries.
At 146 for five with 16 overs to go, Rowledge looked on course for a good total. However, regular wickets and accurate pace off bowling from Mark Lavelle (five for 28) did not allow Rowledge to get any initiative or momentum into the innings.
Wickets fell regularly and despite David Lloyd's effervescent 27 off 30 balls, Ryan Littlewood was left stranded on 22 not out as the tail subsided and Rowledge finished on 204 all out.
In response Rowledge let two chances go for each opener early on. The prolific Ben Johns (107 not out) and Will Brewster (81 not out) accumulated runs around the ground in a positive, risk-free manner to see the visitors home in the 44th over.
No wickets was not a reflection on the efforts of the bowling attack on what was a very flat track. Will Ryman bowled with a great deal of energy and Lloyd and Martin were not rewarded for pressure well built.
Rowledge will travel to Totton & Eling on Saturday.
