Grayshott Chargers have reached the I’Anson Women’s Softball League final.
Farncombe beat Frimley Phoenix in the first semi-final, before Grayshott Chargers faced Blackheath in the second semi-final.
The Chargers won the toss and elected to field.
With a team of ten, the field was set aiming to limit the singles and stop as many boundaries as possible. With the sun breaking through the clouds, Blackheath aimed to rack up the runs.
The Chargers fielded well and produced a fine bowling performance to take 12 wickets. Blackheath finished their innings on 238 for 12.
Blackheath bowled well and took some fine catches to keep the Chargers on their toes.
Despite a good effort from Blackheath in the field, the Chargers lost only six wickets.
Despite losing a wicket on the final ball of the match, the Chargers finished on 268 for six to seal the win and secure their spot in the I’Anson final.
The rain then arrived so the third/fourth play-off and final both had to be abandoned.
The final between Farncombe Ferns and Grayshott Chargers has been rescheduled for Sunday, August 20.
Gryashott Chargers captain Al Grant said: “It was such a great day to be a part of, to celebrate a great season of women’s cricket for the club and the league.
“There are more than 25 players in the Grayshott squad who have all helped to get us here, and we were all thrilled to represent our club and fellow players and friends.”
