THE team at Specsavers in Petersfield have had a crash course in crown green bowling courtesy of the Liphook Bowling Club.
It followed a donation of £900 to the club.
Store directors Jo Cox and Shilpan Shah pledged the money to help support the club with its biggest financial outlay, the ongoing maintenance of its crucial lawnmower.
Jo said: “We like to support local causes in the community that mirror our mission to support well-being.
“When we heard that Liphook Bowling Club could benefit from some financial support, we felt it was great, given their work in promoting active, healthy lifestyles for residents.
“Being able to hear and see clearly is vital to all sport and leisure activities, and lawn green bowls is no different.”
A bowling club spokesman said: “The funding from Specsavers is wonderful because our most important piece of equipment - a large mower to keep our lawn in tip top condition - drains our finances each year.
“Many of our members play at county levels and a smooth, even green is essential when they are getting in their practice before an important game.”
