Petersfield beat Seale and Sands in a repeat of last year’s Hunter Cup final.

The competition has been organised by Frensham Bowls Club since 1939 when the then club president, Edward Hunter, presented the cup bearing his name.

The final, which was held at Frensham, was played over 18 ends on two rinks with Seale and Sands going 4-0 up on both after two ends.

On rink three Petersfield scored five on the third end and remained in contention throughout before gaining the upper hand on the 11th end and holding a strong lead through to the end to win 19-12.

On rink two Seale and Sands were in the lead throughout but Petersfield held their composure and gradually clawed their way back to lose 13-11.

Petersfield retained the trophy by five shots and were presented with the cup and their medals by Frensham president and match official Chris Bonner.

Seale and Sands retained the runners-up cup and both teams were congratulated.

A tea was supplied by Frensham which was prepared and served by Pat Pearce and Ann Pitman, assisted by their respective husbands Roger and Jon.

Heather Warner oversaw the raffle before thanks were given by Bonner to Bert and Pat Pharo for organising the 2024 Hunter Cup.

The catering team and raffle organiser were thanked by Bert Pharo and presented with gifts of appreciation for their hard work before thanks were made by Keith Alexander and Margaret Hutchinson from Seale and Sands and Petersfield respectively.
