Bordon boxer Darren Hendry is gearing up for his next fight.
Hendry will face Justin Hoffman at the Verti Music Hall in Berlin tonight (Friday) in a professional gloved fight.
Hendry, who usually specialises in bareknuckle fighting, is coming into the contest in good form after beating Luke Atkin in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) last month.
The Bordon boxer is looking forward to the challenge against Hoffman.
“It’s a professional gloved fight at cruiserweight,” said Hendry.
“I’ve had no time to relax and enjoy my last win at BKFC.
“I’m going over to Germany to fight their golden boy. I don’t really know too much about him – he’s two out of two as a pro with two knockouts.
“He’s got an extensive amateur career. I’m obviously going into the lion’s den but I don’t really care about going into someone’s back yard.
“It’s a bit different from the bare knuckle boxing – it’s four three-minute rounds.
“Training is going well. I have to adapt because the bare knuckle boxing is five two-minute rounds whereas this is four three-minute rounds, so instead of the short, sharp fast-paced action I have to slow it down a little bit.
“Gloved boxing is a completely different sport to bare knuckle boxing.
“It’s more about planting your feet, slower movements and focusing on power shots rather than short, snappy punches and focusing on speed and movement.”
