FARNHAM’S under-15s have made their bow in roller hockey’s National League.

They won their place in the competition after finishing second in the regional league.

They played their first National League tournament on March 6 in Herne Bay.

They twice faced the Herne Bay team who finished above them in the regional league.

The first encounter started evenly with the lead changing hands three times to finish 3-3 at half-time.

With National League matches being slightly longer than the regional league game, Farnham started to tire in the second half and Herne Bay took advantage to pull away to go 6-3 ahead.

Jack Webber completed his hat-trick by pulling a goal back before Herne Bay broke through twice more as Farnham pushed forward and left space at the back.

Herne Bay ran out 8-4 winners with Farnham’s Lelani Petzer also finding the target.

The second encounter later in the day was a very tense affair.

Both keepers produced fine saves to keep the scores level and by half-time the deadlock could not be broken.

In the second half, Herne Bay broke away to open the scoring, but Farnham responded well and managed to force an equaliser through Jack Webber.

Some good goalkeeping from AJ Carver managed to keep out Herne Bay and the match finished 1-1, earning Farnham their first point of the National League season.

Future tournaments will see the squad travel to Middlesbrough and Peterborough to play teams from the Northern and Eastern regions.

Club players Tilly King and Hannah Sollars will be travelling to Germany next week to play for England Ladies in the UERH Nations Cup against Germany, Germany’s under-23s and Switzerland.

The German under-23s were late replacements for Andorra, who withdrew from the event at short notice.
