A young entrepreneur has organised a pop-up shop featuring 100 per cent female-owned fashion brands.
Lucy Mackay, 18, launched her own online clothing business, selling mainly shorts, after studying A-Level Design and Technology. Inspired by her first pop-up shop in London, Lucy decided to host her own event in Haslemere to promote her business, Lulio London.
The pop-up shop will be open from 10am to 4pm at HasleWorks in Haslemere on Saturday, September 7. The first 25 people through the door will receive a complimentary goodie bag with freebies from big brands such as Jimmy’s Iced Coffee, Spacemasks, Dr Paw Paw, and more.
Lucy is excited about the opportunity not only to grow her business but also to meet other like-minded women and connect with customers face-to-face. Despite just starting out, Lucy is ready to challenge prejudices against female-owned businesses.
She said: “I think a lot of people look down on female-owned brands because they think you’re just playing at it, that it isn’t going to do well. But I want to ask them: what have they done to prove they can do it better?
“That is why I wanted it to be an all-female space – to create a really supportive group that will help everyone.”
Other brands setting up shop at the pop-up include Cordelia Rose, Iris and I, Hoboko, and more. Clothes, jewellery, and vintage fashion items will all be available for those in attendance.
Lucy plans to continue her online business while studying marketing at Exeter.
