It was a party that had the Heaven’s Kitchen team on cloud nine after they launched their rebrand of The Squirrel Inn at Hurtmore last month.
The music and Prosecco were flowing as staff welcomed a stream of customers from the moment The Squirrel opened to the moment the restaurant closed its doors.
Russell White, operations manager at Heaven’s Kitchen, described the opening as “a great success”, welcoming more than 180 guests day and night.
After the success of its Meditteranean steakhouses in Farnham and Alton, Heaven’s Kitchen’s decided to bring that success to The Squirrel.
The pub enjoys a prime location, just off the A3, and close to both Guildford and Godalming – and offered the perfect opportunity to expand.
“I looked around the area and neither Godalming, Guildford, or anywhere else close has a decent steak restaurant, and I thought we are missing a trick here,” said Russell.
The Heaven’s Kitchen team started the refit in January, rebranding the classic pub to the now-named Heaven’s Kitchen at The Squirrel Inn.
The menu still features pub classics like whitebait, fish and chips, and the age-old favourite burgers.
But the real stars of the menu are, of course, its superb, chargrilled steaks – with everything from an 8oz sirloin black Angus rump (£30) to a 20oz T-bone (£39) and 40oz Tomahawk (£89 – to share!), each served with a beer-battered onion ring and thick-cut chips.
But the changes don’t stop at the menu. A lot of hard work has gone into renovating the pub and it shows.
The Heaven’s Kitchen team has really spread their wings across Hampshire and Surrey.
