Weydon School’s staff and students hosted a spectacular ‘Day at The Movies’ last Friday to raise money for BBC Children in Need.
The event was a movie-themed non-uniform day where all the students and staff were encouraged to dress up as their favourite movie characters to raise funds for the amazing cause.
The day provided students with the opportunity to watch some all-time classics over some sweet treats, witness some live music from their own highly-talented singers and musicians, play a round of ‘Sponge the Teacher’ and the main event, a ‘flash mob’ dance routine devised by the school’s dance student leaders and then performed by staff and students on the day.
Weydon principal Jackie Sharman said the event was a “huge success” with everyone who participated donating to the cause, generating a “huge amount of money”.
She added: “The school is so proud to be able to put on events like this and raise funds for Children in Need to benefit local charities and projects all over the country.
“Thank you so much to everyone that donated, it really means a lot to us to be able to contribute to this wonderful cause. Also thank you so much to all the staff and students that participated in this incredible event, the support as ever was unbelievable”.
