WHEATSHEAF Cub Pack, from First Liphook Scout Group, became the Petersfield District’s county champions in this year’s annual six-a-side football tournament.
It is the second year running Wheatsheaf Pack have won the district’s Rodney Bishop tournament and gone on to represent Petersfield in the finals at Eastleigh.
All district winners were invited to play and nearly 20 teams took part.
Liphook played some fantastic football, not conceding a goal until the semi-finals, which they won 2-1.
The final was even more exciting, having taken the lead winning some corners that count in the event of a draw, Liphook scored - in the second half with only a few minutes left.
A deflection looped the ball over the goalkeeper who had no chance – but with seconds left Liphook scored the winner.
This year is a special year as it is the 100th anniversary of the Cubs movement, and the first time in 32 years, since the county competition started, it has been won by a pack from the Petersfield District.
