FEATHERS have been ruffled as a new birdhide is proving a hit at a beauty spot in Bordon.
The metal feature – which was winched into place amid tricky conditions before Christmas – at Hogmoor Inclosure replaces a wooden structure which was destroyed by fire.
A new access path has been laid to the hide, which boasts multiple platforms, windows and excellent views over Forey Pond, giving twitchers the perfect spot to see a Little Grebe and other water and woodland birds.
“We are delighted this new and improved birdhide is finally in after a lot of work behind the scenes by the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company, Land Trust and Deadwater Valley Trust,” said the latter’s head ranger, Rebekah Searle.
The hide is open to the public, schools and group visitors, while the DVT has also begun a project to restore the pond habitat with help from a Sunday working party.
