ANGLERS have been set a reel challenge as a 24-hour fishing marathon will take place in Petersfield this weekend.
More than a dozen anglers will perch around Heath Pond from midday on Saturday in a fundraising challenge set by the site’s head bailiff Richard Welch.
They will be split into teams and challenged to catch as many fish as possible with £25 entry proceeds going to the Armed Forces Drop-in Centre at the Winton House Centre.
A few places are available for the event, which was put back eight weeks due to the blue-green algae outbreak in August.
Teams will be drawn at 10am on Saturday while certificates and prizes will be awarded to anglers who catch the biggest fish during the marathon.
