Plans for traffic-calming measures in Sussex Road have been revised.
Petersfield Town Council’s town development committee met on July 7 to discuss county councillor Russell Oppenheimer’s proposals for traffic calming measures along Sussex Road.
The traffic calming plans were revised after concerns that the plans were not cycle friendly or compliant with South Downs National Park Authority requirements. A reduction in the speed limit along Sussex Road from 40mph to 30mph and raised table crossings were also discussed.
Current plans do not include the speed limit reduction – though members felt it may be sensible to extend the 30mph zone – or raised table crossings because of the potential impact on cost and time for the works to Pulens Lane, where a high number of accidents have taken place.
