Undershaw has made history after a visit from Surrey County Council.

The SEND school was not only the first to get a Gold Anti-Bullying Charter Mark from Surrey County Council on its first visit, but it was also awarded gold in every category.

Two assessors visited the school to audit Undershaw’s provision. They met with students, staff, governors, and parents as part of their visit and reviewed the work done every day to support the students and reinforce the importance of kindness.

The assessors said Undershaw is ‘excellent in all areas’, with students stating the school is the “best school around”, that “I really enjoy learning now”, and that: “It’s like a second home.”

Maggie Walker, Anti-Bullying Charter Mark Co-Ordinator, SW Surrey, said: “Your pupils were a pleasure to meet and a credit to your school. They spoke so positively about being at Undershaw and were proud of their additional responsibilities.”

Headteacher Emma West said: “This is a remarkable achievement for Undershaw and is a testament to all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes by the pastoral and therapy teams, laying the framework which can then be implemented by the full staff team throughout the school. The students, led by the School Council and the Anti-Bullying ‘buddies’, have added vital colour to the framework.

“Undershaw has an incredibly strong culture where our values breathe life into every aspect of our school – and now we have this accreditation to prove it! Well done to everyone involved.”
