If you like a lot of laughs with your nights out, love seeing the underdog triumph, and relish a rollicking good tune, get yourself tickets for Petersfield Theatre Group (PTG)’s version of 9 to 5 The Musical at Petersfield Festival Hall from May 17 to 20.

Based on the 1980 hit movie, and with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, the show tells the story of three downtrodden female office workers pushed to boiling point by their sexist, egotistical bigot of a boss. It’s outrageous, thought-provoking, high energy and hilarious. 

Violet is the most capable worker at the company but has repeatedly been passed over for promotion, office rookie Judy is newly separated and is bullied. Then there’s Doralee whose looks belie her brains, constantly fending off unwanted advances.

The trio fantasise about ways to get even with the chauvinist in charge, but events take an unexpected turn – and then the company chairman makes a surprise visit! Will the workplace transformation and a little extra intel on the boss be enough for the women to triumph?

PTG aims for an immersive theatre approach so, besides the performance itself, audiences will also get a chance to sample the hedonistic craziness of the disco era in La Vie en Rose, a 1970s/80s disco bar, complete with a live DJ, a dance floor and themed cocktails.

Performances start at 7.30pm (Saturday matinee at 2.30pm) and adult tickets are £18 (£16 for the Wednesday preview night).
