“DISGUSTING scumbag.”
Those are the words used to describe a heartless burglar who stole an engagement ring and numerous heirlooms from a Bordon couple in their 90s.
Relatives of the elderly couple have made a desperate plea for witnesses following the sickening incident between 10.30am and 3pm last Thursday in Hollywater Road.
The pair returned from a shopping trip to find their bedroom trashed and all their watches and jewellery stolen.
Some of the jewellery was “very old” with the most heart-breaking loss being an engagement ring of 70 years.
Relatives of the victims are convinced the culprit had been watching the house beforehand and picked their time as the couple rarely leave the home together.
“I am so angry and disgusted that two people in their 90s have had their home invaded and family heirlooms stolen that cannot be replaced,” said the victims’ granddaughter on a Facebook post.
They have asked anyone walking through the Deadwater and Knox’s Pond area to keep an eye out for jewellery in the bushes as they think the culprit jumped over the river at the back of the house before running into the woods.
Witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 quoting Crime Reference number 44230322532 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
