A rare, unsigned oil-on-canvas poster, dating around 1910, has been conserved for display at Haslemere Museum after years of deterioration.
The poster, once used to advertise the Haslemere Society of Artists’ early exhibitions, is a vital piece of local history.
The Society, founded in 1894, has played a key role in Haslemere’s cultural life, drawing artists to the area following the arrival of the railway in 1859. This restoration, completed in October 2024 by ICON registered conservator Alison Seed, ensures the poster is now stable and ready for display in the museum’s new 'Spotlight Exhibition Area' from January 22 to March 31.
It will be the first object showcased in this dynamic space dedicated to changing exhibitions.
