There was a report in the Herald on January 11 of the Lib Dem leader Ed Davey unveiling his ‘Tory Removal Service’ removals van in Guildford. The thrust of this Lib Dem stunt was their targeting the removal of Jeremy Hunt in the new Godalming and Ash constituency and Michael Gove in Surrey Heath along with other Tories from seats in Surrey.
But more important to readers of the Herald will be what the leader of this very small Westminster party did not say. One parliamentary seat not on the Lib Dem’s hit list is the new cross-county border constituency of Farnham and Bordon, which covers Farnham, Bordon, Haslemere, Liphook and many surrounding towns and villages.
This is where the new Farnham and Bordon Labour Party (‘FAB Labour’) is working to ensure that the carpet bagger Tory candidate does not achieve his long-held ambition to join his right-wing Tory brother in the Commons.
FAB Labour is now well into the candidate selection process and will reveal the name of our candidate to the public as soon as selection is completed. There are two things local residents should beware of: firstly, opponents will tell you Farnham and Bordon is not a priority for Labour – not true.
Secondly, rest assured that the Lib Dems will once again come up with a snowstorm of leaflets containing dodgy ‘Only we can beat the Tories’ graphs without scales or reference to any real research – as they continually do.
Finally, FAB Labour volunteers are already knocking on doors in order to meet as many local residents as possible before the General Election – whenever Rishi Sunak decides it will be.
