SURREY Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was left with a fractured leg in a hit-and-run accident.
The driver failed to stop following the incident, which occurred on the B2131 in Shottermill at approximately 5pm on Saturday.
The cyclist, 37, was riding from Liphook to Haslemere when he was struck by the unknown vehicle. Another car stopped soon after to help him.
Pc Mark Russell of the Roads Policing Unit said: “This is a serious offence, with the cyclist sustaining a leg fracture. We have little information about the car involved so we need the public’s help to identify the vehicle and its driver.
“There is likely to be damage caused to the nearside of the vehicle including the wing mirror.”
Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything, or have seen a car with damage consistent with the above description, is asked to get in touch with the Traffic and Process Unit by calling 101 with the reference P17278784.
Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
