A SUMMER full of fun can be had by children of all ages right on on their doorsteps.
The Get Activ8d programme includes basketball, tennis, football, golf, climbing and gymnastics at venues around East Hampshire for children aged seven to 14 and session are £4 to £6.
RAPP is aimed at 4-11 year-olds with under fours able to attend for free and play with RAPP toys. Sessions start from £4. On Tuesday, August 2, from 11am-4pm there is a session called Bright Butterflies and Buzzy Bees inspired by the flying inhabitants of Gilbert’s Gardens.
Entry is free with valid museum ticket. No booking required. Bushcraft Day is on August 3, where children are invited to some exciting bushcraft activities in the woodland.

The Great Hampshire Butterfly Hunt is taking place on Sunday August 7 and all you have to do is grab an identification sheet and join in this National Butterfly Counting event. Free with valid museum ticket. All ages welcome and no booking required
On Tuesday August 9, 11am to 4pm, youngsters can make their own bird mobile to take home inspired by the birds in Gilbert’s gardens.

The Art of Plants is being held on Wednesday,, August 10, and children - best to be over five - can make blueprints
Wednesday, August 10, you can create plant blueprints, find out about amazing properties of the plants and try your hand at grass rope making in the meadow.

Gilbert’s Games is the fastest growing family event which occurs annually here at Gilbert White’s & The Oates Collection taking visitors back to the 18th century for fun-filled activities. This year it is on Sunday August 14 either purchase a ticket online or on the door.
Let your creativity take flight in a drop in craft activity, Bright Butterfield and Buzzy Bees on Tuesday, August 16, 11am - 4pm. Free with valid museum ticket. All ages welcome.
Pond Dipping Day is really fun and it is on Wednesday, August 17, so grab a a net and an identification sheet and get ready to explore the wildlife in Gilbert White’s Garden Pond Book

Bring the family pet along to the first ever dog show to be held at Gilbert White and the Oates Collections and it is on Sunday, August 21, and for free owners can enter their dogs in a number of classes.
If you missed it there is a chance to make bird mobiles on Tuesday, August 23, 10am to 4pm free with entrance ticket.
Another highlight is All About Bats on Wednesday, August 24, when during the day there will be Bat Crafts and Bat box creation plus the chance to find out about the bats that live in the area with The Bat Conservation Trust.
There is also the chance to take part in some bat crafts and build a bat box for your garden Booking required. £6 per child with accompanying adult free. All materials included.
Bright Butterflies and Buzzy Bees is being repeated on Tuesday, August 30, 11am to 4pm and on the following day, August 31, there there is a session called Wild Intrigue Workshops where you can build and decorate your own bird box. The workshops cost £6 per child and accompanying adults go free.
Suitable for age five and over and all materials included. Woodworking tools will be used.
On Sunday, September 4, families can try their hand at geocaching and scavenger hunts in the gardens and parkland. GPS devices can be hired from reception. The event is free for those who have a valid museum ticket.
