The Haslemere Fringe was attended by thousands of keen festival-goers and featured world-class headliners including Blue, Daniel Bedingfield, and Rebecca Ferguson.

Hosted on Lion Green in Shottermill every two years, the festival spans from Friday to Sunday. While many praised the festival and the volunteers who stuck it out despite the bad weather, a resident wrote into the Herald to complain about the music.

Diana Samways said the weekend was “blighted by ‘music’ – a low-pitched loud, repetitive, all-pervasive beat” which was “audible several miles away” and continued past the 11pm cut-off

Mayor Oliver Leach said: “There was a delay that caused the Fringe to run over on Saturday, but if it hadn’t the paying crowd would have only seen the headliner play for 16 minutes.

“I am proud of the events we put on in Haslemere, and we try to be considerate of everyone when making theses decisions. We will find solutions to the noise complaints for future events.”
