Ever wondered what it would be like to work in Santa’s workshop? 

A team of volunteers at Liphook Food Bank found out last week after taking over four classrooms, the main hall and office at Liphook Infant school. The rooms were transformed into a not-so-mini version of the big man’s workshop where presents and food were packaged for 85 households.

One food bank user said: “I have just seen the pictures on Facebook of the enormous generosity and support that is around and it brings a tear to my eye. Thank you so, so much.”

Another said: “I would just like to say that the team at the food bank are amazing people. What they do to help me and my children and all families is incredible. 

“They  will never know how grateful I am and always will be. Thank you.”

The generosity of the Liphook community has also overwhelmed those working at the food bank. Two years ago, they only needed one classroom to pack the Christmas Food Bank Drive, last year one classroom and part of the hall. This year they needed so much more space because donations had more than doubled. 

Liphook Food Bank chair, Glynis Blake, said: “Thank you so much for the incredible support from the Liphook community. Whether you donated a tin of baked bins or a big gift, you are amazing.”

Glynis also thanked  the volunteers who made the Christmas Drive happen. 

“Our volunteers were fantastic. We even had executive head, Jacqui Taylor, from Liphook school plus two other teachers – that’s dedication when they’ve only just stopped! 

“The team were utterly brilliant. Everyone was at full pelt and we finished in record time, hours quicker than last year even with so many more families. We then had three Bohunt pupils and a teacher out making deliveries. 

“Thank you everyone, it’s just amazing.”
