David Gill, chairman of Farnham Sports Council, in his letter last week wishes us all a happy and healthy new year and Farnham Carnival would like to do the same.
In recognition of this “bumper year of sport” that he describes, our theme will be Keep Farnham Active and we will be celebrating and promoting all ways in which we can keep fit in mind and body.
The carnival is over 100 years old and takes place on June 29 with the usual parade through the town and fayre in Gostrey Meadow.
Organised by Farnham Hedgehogs and Lions and this year in partnership with Farnham Sports Council we aim to make it a great day out for all.
In answer to those wondering why I am writing six months in advance of the event the answer is simple. We want you to save the date of course but we need your help. We are hoping for 50 floats in the parade and know schools and charities appreciate time to plan and construct their wonderful floats.
We need 120 marshals to keep the Parade and public safe. We need a diverse range of stalls and food providers to fill the meadow and to keep this event free to enter we need new sponsors to join our prestigious list of long term supporters.
Finally both Hedgehogs and Lions are looking for new members to help run all the events that help make this a very special place to live.
So please visit our website and see how to get involved. We need your help.
