It’s “all that Jazz” in Petersfield as a new outlet has launched all for jazz and blues lovers.

Local station Shine Radio has joined forces with Petersfield Jazz & Blues Festival to create a new weekly show.

Listeners to the station are now enjoying sumptuous tunes from some of the world’s jazz and blues greats every Thursday night, curated and hosted by popular broadcasting personality Duncan Barkes.

Mr Barkes said: “It’s an absolute joy to present this kind of music on Shine Radio. Jazz and blues does not get the airtime it deserves, so it’s great that Shine Radio and the Petersfield Jazz and Blues Festival have joined forces so we can bring this glorious music to a wider audience.”

The new Shine Radio programme is part of the station’s unique focus on the voices and stories of Petersfield residents, the creativity in the town and trusted local information for Petersfield and the surrounding villages.

The success of Petersfield’s Strange Fruit Jazz Club demonstrates just how much the town loves jazz. It’s a musical passion that fans can further indulge when Petersfield resounds to a day of live jazz and blues music this summer.

The Petersfield Jazz & Blues Festival will take over the grounds of Churcher’s College and bring celebrated musicians to two marquee stages later this year. The event will run on Saturday, June 14 and features returning artists and bands, such as Terry Pack's Full Circle Quartet, Churcher’s Jazz Band and The Bedale’s Big Band.

Newcomers include Betty Accorsi Quartet, Jazz Samba, Jana Varga and her band and more. Don’t miss the chance to join in on the open mic event to show off your own musical talent!

Jazz & Blues with Mr Barkes is on Shine Radio every Thursday at 8pm. Listen at shineradio.uk or ask any smart speaker to “play Petersfield’s Shine Radio”.
