Competing in a 10km run is no easy feat – but imagine doing it with no training or any other preparation.

Which is exactly what Harry Barnley did on Sunday, January 7 alongside Farnham-based Paralympian Rachel Morris who helped to make it happen.

Harry, 15, has a rare degenerative disability called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and constantly blows his mother Sue away with his determination.

Speaking after her son tackled the Stubbington 10km, Sue said: “It was incredible to see Harry achieve this!

“The race wasn’t an easy undertaking for Harry and I’m sure he wanted to quit several times. But he is super stubborn, super determined and I’m so very proud.”

Through Help4Harry the charity set up to aid Harry’s condition, Sue and the family are organising a disco fundraiser night.

It will be the charity’s last event and will run on Saturday, June 15 from 7pm at Farnham Rugby Union Football Club.

There will be an auction, a live band, curry in a box and the dress code will be orange in support of DMD.

The cost is £35 per person.
