THREE hundred family tickets for Farnham Fireworks & Torchlit Procession have been handed out to key workers by the town’s Round Table and sponsors ME estate agents and Yiayias.
NHS workers at Farnham, Frimley Park and Royal Surrey hospitals, as well as staff at William Cobbett and Potters Gate schools, were among those treated to tickets ahead of this year’s event – the first in two years – on Saturday, November 6.
Steve Darling, partner at ME estate agents, visited many of the recipients alongside Oliver Haynes of the Round Table.
He said: “ME Estate Agents are very excited to be working with the Farnham Round Table for the fireworks event this year.
“This is our first year sponsoring the event and just like the rest of the country we are very thankful for our key workers so our sponsorship is to go towards free ballot tickets for the event for families of key workers of schools and hospitals in the surrounding area.
“The event is already looking like a major success with record ticket sales so I look forward to seeing everyone there.
“We look forward to many more years working on events alongside the Farnham Round Table team. Enjoy the evening.”
For the first time, Farnham Park will be open from 5pm with a new-look food village offering fish and chips, wood-fired pizza, Indian street food, a Greek grill, a G&T and Prosecco bar, and more.
Entertainment will be laid on throughout the evening, including live music, Taiko drumming, a compère and fire performers.
The Reading Pipers Band will lead the traditional torchlit procession from Central car park at 6pm, up Castle Street, and to the park entrance.
This will be followed by a guy competition before the bonfire is lit at 7.15pm, and the fireworks display at 7.45pm following a countdown by local key workers.
Paul at Yiayias at the Fox added: “We are very proud to be supporting the Farnham Round Table and this community event, complimentary key worker tickets and to be running the grill, gin and Prosecco bar in the new-look food village on the night!”
Event organisers Farnham Round Table will be selling tickets in Farnham town centre on Saturday at: Lion and Lamb Yard, the Bush Hotel and outside ME estate agents on Castle Street.
Discounted advance tickets can also be bought online at https://farnhamroundtable.org.uk/events/fireworktickets/ and from sponsors ME Estate Agents and Yiayias at The Fox.
Those who can are asked to avoid driving, with road closures in place on the night, and Central car park, Wagon Yard and the Farnham Park car parks either fully or partly closed.
Farnham Park Golf Club and cafe will, however, remain open until 4pm on Saturday as usual.
