Farnham Veterinary Group has cancelled its dog show at the Farnham Carnival Fayre this Saturday because of the high temperatures forecast.

The Met Office is predicting temperatures of up to 26 degrees Celcius on Saturday afternoon, when the carnival fayre is scheduled to take place from 2pm.

The dog show was organised to raise funds for charity StreetVet but has been cancelled to protect the welfare of the pooches taking part.

Farnham Veterinary Group, which runs the Farnham Veterinary Hospital in East Street, will though be holding a photo dog show via Facebook.

Pet owners can enter in exchange for a £3 donation per class to StreetVet.

A spokesman for Farnham Veterinary Hospital said: "The classes will remain the same for the photo show, so please post pictures or video of your gorgeous dogs keeping nice and cool."

Farnham Vet Group will still be attending the carnival and will be handing out goody bags. It hopes the dog show can take place later in the year when it’s cooler.

StreetVet is a national charity which provides free, essential veterinary care and services to pets belonging to homeless people at multiple locations around the UK.

Donations will fund an increase in StreetVet’s outreach so the charity can have more vets on the streets helping more people and dogs in need.
