SHORTLY before coming under fire for comparing the EU to the Soviet Union, Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt gave a talk on Brexit to The Royal School.
After his Royal lecture last Friday, the Conservative MP for Haslemere opened the school’s new sixth form café to coincide with the first co-educational lower sixth intake of male and female pupils at the start of the academic year, – and it is already teaching at full capacity – before rushing off to Birmingham for the Tory Party conference in Birmingham
Mr Hunt faced a barrage of criticism from European allies on Monday after he compared the EU’s approach to Brexit to the repressive instincts of the Soviet Union, in his keynote speech at the Conservative Party conference.
His talk on Brexit to school staff, students and parents did not include any controversial comparisons to the USSR, and covered historical factors and the implications for the country in the coming years. (Above HD41-34-18)
