CHILDREN, parents and friends enjoyed the annual dog show and duck race at Radford Park, which raised more than £750 which will help enhance the children’s learning environment at Liphook Junior School.

Organised by Friends of Liphook Junior School, the event attracted many members of the community – and their dogs – turning the afternoon into a huge success and a great end to the summer.

Despite the lack of the 33-year-old wooden bridge, which had to be dismantled by the parish council at the beginning of the year, after it was found to be unsafe, 300 plastic ducks were cheered on excitedly as they raced down the river in various heats.

Following the heats, the final race was won by eight-year-old Tegan from the juniors

The dog show was organised by Fiona Ormonde and judged by Kiri Downes of Paws in the Pink.

Owners had the chance to enter their dogs in various categories, including best sit, waggiest tail and best lookalike.

The ‘best in show’ prize was won for the second time in a row by 11-year-old Danielle with her new dog Rex.

Certificates and rosettes were awarded in all categories and prizes donated by Small World Vets, in Station Road.

Spectators had the opportunity to mill around and savour the delights of the school governors’ barbecue, Dylan’s ice creams and sample a range of homemade cakes.
