GUYS and girls have been invited to build a bonfire on Steep Common this weekend.

The Steep Bonfire Committee could do with a few extra hands as preparations for this year’s bonfire and fireworks display will begin this Saturday.

All volunteers are welcome to take part in bonfire building from 10am to midday but gloves and a sturdy pair of boots will be a necessity.

The main event will take place on Sunday, November 5, with the bonfire and fireworks being lit at 6.45pm and 7.15pm, respectively.

This year’s event is also the first the Steep Bonfire Committee will be run independently as previous displays were organised in conjunction with Steep Parish Council.
