Birthday cake was served during a recent day of firsts at an East Hampshire care home.

Bere Grove care home threw a birthday bonanza to celebrate a year of serving the Horndean and south of Butser community with fizz, canapes and cake being dished up.

The mayor of Havant, Peter Wade, was among the guests with inaugural resident Suzanne get the honour of cutting the birthday cake at the home run by Barchester Healthcare.

General Manager, Diana Okeme said: “It is important to recognise the hard work of our staff here at Bere Grove.

“For the past year, we have provided a caring home for our residents as well as the best possible environment for our staff.

“Today not only enables us to celebrate their hard work, but it's also an opportunity to thank the 60 residents, their relatives and friends who have made Bere Grove such a loving home.”
