THE Christmas fair in Grayshott village hall last Saturday saw its biggest footfall ever, despite the bitter cold.
The fair was organised by a committee from Haslemere and District Macmillan Cancer Support and around 1,000 people came through the doors.
There were 40 stallholders this year selling handmade gifts, jewellery, fashion, decorations, food and drink, arts and crafts and stalls spread out over both the main hall and the new community room which occupies the old library wing.
New this year was a schools’ tree decorating challenge using ornaments made from recycled materials.
Visitors were asked to vote for their favourite tree, and saw creations displayed by Grayshott Primary School, St Edmund’s, Camelsdale Juniors, The Royal School, Liphoook Juniors, Amesbury School and Beacon Hill Juniors.
Votes are still being counted and will be announced soon.
Children could also have an audience with Father Christmas to tell him what they wished for. Santa’s grotto was especially created on stage complete with fireplace and bags filled with treats shooting down a chimney.
