Real ales and cider will be enjoyed at the Watercress Line by visitors to its Rails and Ales weekend tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday.

On tap will be Triple fff Brewery's CAMRA Supreme Beer of Britain 2008 Alton's Pride, along with Moondance pale ale. The Steam Town Brew Co. from Eastleigh and Alfred's Brewery in Winchester will also be serving their bespoke brews.

For the first time ales will be served in the engineering shed at Ropley station, as well as from the real ale bar travelling along the line. Steam and diesel heritage trains will be operating across the weekend.

At times during the day there will be live music to add to the experience while sampling pints in the engineering shed.

The Watercress Line has collaborated with The Watercress Lodges for a special discounted camping rate for those who want to stay over at the weekend.

Watercress Line chief executive Rebecca Dalley said: "Real ale and cider enthusiasts are set for a real treat at our new Rails and Ales weekend.

"They will have the opportunity to sample local speciality ales and ciders, including those not usually seen at the Watercress Line, with the option to enjoy their drinks inside our engineering shed at Ropley as well as on the train.

"Our Rails and Ales timetable for Saturday and Sunday lets visitors plan their train trip ahead, so please visit the Watercress Line website for more information and book tickets for this fantastic weekend.”
