Alton Men’s Shed has received a “generous” donation from joinery firm Howdens.
Shed chairman Gordon Anderson was presented with the cheque by Howdens branch manager Andy Barnes on July 25.
A Shed spokesperson said: “We are extremely grateful for their support, which is much needed for the new premises at Edgar Hall.”
East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds opened the building in Anstey Lane, formerly the St John Ambulance headquarters, on August 5.
This bigger base will allow Alton Men’s Shed to increase its membership and carry out more community projects.
Insurance company A-Plan held a sponsored cycle for the Shed on August 18.
