BOSSES at a Petersfield charity have a Christmas wish: they want to give away surplus food to local charities and good causes over the festive period.
Aldi is calling on charities, community groups and food banks to sign up to its festive food donation scheme.
Participating groups will get the chance to collect fresh and chilled food products nearing the end of their shelf-life.
The retailer, which will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing day and New Year’s day, wants to donate more than a million meals over the Christmas period through the scheme.
Aldi has already given away 40 million meals nationally after joining forces with community giving platform Neighbourly.
“We know that many communities up and down the country continue to feel the impact of the rise in living costs,” said Liz Fox, national sustainability director at Aldi UK.
“That’s why we are committed to ensuring the communities we provide for always get the support they need.”
Any groups interesting in collecting unsold food at Christmas should get in touch with [email protected] by this Friday.
