WINGS & Wheels 2015 at Dunsfold Park, Surrey, is the next major air show scheduled in the region, following the disaster at Shoreham Air Show on Saturday in which up to 20 people are feared dead.
Responding to concerns about safety at the Wings & Wheels two-day event, the organisers confirmed the show would be going ahead this weekend and new safety restrictions announced by the Civil Aviation Authority on August 24 will be implemented “immediately” with changes made as necessary to the line-up.
"We take the safety arrangements for Wings & Wheels very seriously and will be immediately implementing the new restrictions announced today (August 24) by the Civil Aviation Authority. The aviation line-up is currently under review and any changes to the show will be announced shortly.
“The Civil Aviation Authority safety standards that must be met by all major civil air displays in the UK are among the very highest in the world. The air show itself has to meet rigorous safety standards that are laid down by the CAA who review these on an ongoing basis. All air display arrangements, including the pilots and aircraft, must meet rigorous safety requirements and are regularly reviewed to ensure they provide the highest possible levels of protection.
“Our thoughts and prayers remain with all those involved in the tragic events at Shoreham on August 22 and a minute’s silence at the start of the air displays at 11:30am on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, will be held in remembrance.”
