A DRIVE to give more independence to elderly people has been launched by a Petersfield charity.
Age Concern Petersfield has a Christmas and New Year wish: One or two more minibus drivers.
The charity based in the Winton House Centre has its own minibus and a roster of volunteer drivers to take pensioners to their Tuesday and Thursday lunch clubs.
Their service is vital to some users but manager Sheridan Rocher is keen to bolster the numbers of their “lovely team”.
She said: “We’re all about getting people together.
“We have a minibus that brings people into town and we do a lot of outings.
“We’re only asking people to help out for a few hours once or twice a month. The drivers are all fantastic and someone would be really welcomed into that.”
The charity has also launched a ‘Chatty Café’ which meets on the first Monday of the month at the High Street venue.
