Children at Fernhurst Primary School near Haslemere have enjoyed a hands-on lesson in teamwork and nature, constructing dens in the local woods.

Pupils from all year groups took part in outdoor sessions run by Laura’s Explorers. Their task was to build a dry, safe den for a soft toy, using sticks for structure and large leaves for insulation.

Split into teams, the children worked together to gather materials, then reviewed their creations by touring the woodland, sharing what went well and what could be improved.

Jennifer Thornton, Headteacher at Fernhurst Primary, part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Laura for providing the amazing den building experiences that each class has had.

“It has been lovely to see the children engage with their outdoor environment in such a positive way and develop important teamwork skills whilst having fun.”
