FareShare Sussex & Surrey is bringing its biggest-ever Tesco Food Collection to Haslemere this November, and volunteers are urgently needed to help gather essential food donations for the winter season.
From Thursday, 28 November to Saturday, 30 November, the charity will be stationed at Haslemere’s Tesco, one of ten locations across Sussex and Surrey, aiming to collect 18 tonnes of food in just three days. Volunteers are invited to greet shoppers and pack donations of dry goods and cupboard essentials.
This year marks the first time Haslemere has participated in the collection, making it a vital part of the charity’s expanded campaign. All donations gathered in Haslemere will be redistributed through FareShare’s network, supporting local groups and charities that provide meals and resources to vulnerable individuals and families.
No one should go hungry, especially over the winter and Christmas period.
Dan Slatter, CEO of FareShare Sussex & Surrey, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the Haslemere community to come together and support those in need during the holiday season. Volunteers make all the difference in gathering donations, which help us fight hunger across the region.”
Emma Selby, volunteer manager, added: “Volunteers play a crucial role in increasing donations, and it’s a great way to get into the Christmas spirit.”
Volunteers can choose from several three-hour shifts between 9am and 9pm during the three-day collection. FareShare is looking for people from all backgrounds to join and help make a local impact this winter.
